Professional Accounting Bodies List

I'll be entering my final year of university in September as will a lot of other finance students. Therefore I have decided to compile a list of professional Accountancy bodies for those interested in pursuing a career in finance. Be sure to check out the websites and keep an eye out for examination exemptions that you may be eligible for upon completion of your degree.

Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT)

Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA)

Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA)

Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA)

Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW)

Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland (ICAS)

Institute of Financial Accountants (IFA)

There are also many other institutes based in other countries. The above list is a starting point, all of the institutes and associations mentioned have their pros and cons. When joining a graduate programme businesses may have preferred institutes, however there is no harm in researching and presenting an argument for a particular institute if you feel it most suites your needs and will present the business with added-value.
